my personal contribution.

Like many of my connections in LinkedIn, I sit in in the Pacific Northwest. During this pandemic I am snuggled safely in my home complete with WIFI, a stocked refrigerator, a tricked-out desk with the latest gadgets. I even have a couple dogs and cats adding to my personal daily entertainment which helps balance the anxiety. It’s nice being able to have water-cooler chats with my husband, and video chatting with friends and family has been new and fun! I am even blessed with the ability and resources to go to school and learn new things.

Not all of us are so fortunate, and I find myself wanting to help. I don’t want to march, I don’t want to hold a sign, I don’t want to break windows, or boycott businesses. What I do want is to be part of a conversation. I want to help our city, our state, our nation, our world discuss approaches that might change our biases, change our behaviors that come from them, and change our collective approach to improving human equality.

I’m not quite sure how I am going to go about helping, but I am observing what some mentors are doing and exploring what I can offer. Take inventory of your blessings and explore how you can contribute to a positive collective approach in managing complex social challenges.
