can we unlearn bias?

The phenomenon I want to explore is bias. It is learned, but can it be unlearned? There seems to be an assumption operating that it can be changed/unlearned. We all have biases and that bias is an effect from lack of adaptation. Exploration in why needs to be personally motivated – meaning no one can tell you to change or why you should change. The inner child is going to stick fingers in your ears when someone yells at you that they are smarter and understand more.

I like that this current anti-racism movement is encouraging individuals to ask themselves why they are bias – super great start! But sadly there are still so many people operating in a “I will force you to agree with me” approach, which further illustrates our inability as a social world to adapt our collective approach.

In summary, many of us are on the right track to approach this current movement better than the times before, but there is still so much work to be led to change the counter productive behavior of those with truthfully, good intentions.

I have no answers, just more questions.

This is an interesting video.
